It is believed that performing these rites on the Godavari during Pushkaralu brings immense peace to departed souls. These should be done at Gowthami Ghat, where over 200 priests are stationed.
The physical act of entering the river. Do these at the main ghats like Kotilingala or Pushkar Ghat in Rajahmundry.
The holy dip itself. Three immersions facing east, ideally before sunrise, holding your breath and chanting a prayer.
The vow taken before entering the water. You state your name, gotra, and the specific spiritual reason for your visit.
Charity performed after the rituals. Can include food (annadanam), clothing, or sponsoring a cow. Highly meritorious during Pushkaralu.
The collective prayer performed at 7:00 PM at major ghats. Even if you bathed in the morning, attending the aarti is a memorable experience.
