While Kotilingala is the largest ghat, Pushkar Ghat is the official one. This is where the state organizes the "Sarvatirtha Snanam" (the dip equivalent to all holy rivers) and where VIPs and the Chief Minister bathe on the opening day.
If you are looking for the most spiritually significant dip in Rajahmundry, this is it. The ghat is located right in the heart of the city, adjacent to the main road, making it highly accessible.
Because of its official status, Pushkar Ghat is heavily regulated. On the opening day (June 26) and on Amavasya (July 3), it is practically impossible for the general public to bathe here until the VIP protocols are finished, usually by 8:00 AM.
The Reality of the Crowd: Pushkar Ghat is smaller than Kotilingala. When the gates open to the public, the crowd pressure here is intense. Security is tight, and entry is often restricted to batches. If you are bringing elderly parents, we highly recommend going to Gowthami Ghat or heading to Konaseema instead.
However, if you want to experience the official aartis and the main energy of the festival, you should at least visit the ghat in the evening.
Because of the VIP presence, expect strict security checks at Pushkar Ghat. Bags, cameras, and even large water bottles may be confiscated or denied entry. Travel light. Do not bring valuables.
The Godavari at this point flows quickly. The bathing area is demarcated with buoys and lifeguards on boats. Do not cross the barriers. The steps are steep and can be slippery.
If you are not a VIP, your best chance to bathe here is between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM on normal days (not opening day or Amavasya). By 8:00 AM, the queue is massive.
| Starting Point | Distance | Best Option | Cost & Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rajahmundry Railway Station | 2 km | Auto / Walk | 10 mins · ₹70 |
| Kotilingala Ghat | 2.5 km | Auto | 15 mins · ₹100 |
Pushkar Ghat is centrally located, so autos will drop you very close to the entrance. However, the main road leading to the ghat is closed to all traffic during the festival. Be prepared to walk the last 500 meters.
